French-Canadian flutist Christian Paquette is the former principal flute of the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony Orchestra. He previously held the positions of Principal flute with the York Symphony Orchestra and the Baltimore Chamber Orchestra. He has recently completed his doctoral studies at the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University under the tutelage of International soloist Marina Piccinini. He has also worked in flute repairs with Adam Workman, founder of Flutistry Boston. He has frequently performed back in his hometown of Ottawa, Canada with the Ottawa Symphony Orchestra, the National Arts Centre Orchestra and the Thirteen Strings Ensemble. He was also the President of the Ottawa Flute Association from 2015 to 2017.
Christian has performed in the Shriver Hall Concert Series in Baltimore MD, Music and Beyond Festival, recitals at the National Arts Centre Fourth Stage, Concerto performances in the U.K. with the Farnborough Symphony Orchestra (Reinecke), as well as the Peabody Symphony Orchestra (Nielsen) under the baton of Miguel Harth-Bedoya, the University of Ottawa Symphony Orchestra (Ibert and Nielsen), and with the Ottawa Chamber Orchestra (Rodrigo). He is the recipient of numerous competition awards, such as the MPIMC (Marina Piccinini International Master Classes) Concerto Competition, first prize at the Yale Gordon Competition, Canadian Music Competition, the National Music Festival, the NACO Bursary Competition and many others. In the summer months of 2021 and 2022, Christian was a Fellow in the Aspen Contemporary Ensemble. Past teachers include Paula Robison, Denis Bluteau, Camille Churchfield, and Loyda Lastra.

Christian Paquette est l’ancien flûtiste solo de l’Orchestre symphonique de Kitchener-Waterloo. Il a auparavant occupé les postes de flûte solo au sein du York Symphony Orchestra (Pennsylvania, USA) et du Baltimore Chamber Orchestra (Maryland, USA). Il a récemment terminé son doctorat au Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University avec la soliste internationale Marina Piccinini. Il a également travaillé dans la réparation de flûtes avec Adam Workman, fondateur de Flutistry Boston. Il s’est souvent produit dans sa ville natale d’Ottawa, avec l’Orchestre symphonique d’Ottawa, l’Orchestre du Centre national des Arts (OCNA) et l’ensemble Thirteen Strings. Il a également été président de l’association des flûtistes d’Ottawa de 2015 à 2017.
Christian s’est produit dans le cadre de la série de concerts Shriver Hall à Baltimore, du festival Music & Beyond, ainsi qu’à la Quatrième Salle du Centre national des Arts à Ottawa. Il s’est aussi produit comme soliste dans le concerto de Reinecke avec l’Orchestre symphonique de Farnborough en Angleterre, le concerto de Nielsen avec l’Orchestre symphonique de Peabody sous la direction de Miguel Harth-Bedoya, le concerto d’Ibert avec l’Orchestre symphonique de l’université d’Ottawa, ainsi que le Concierto Pastoral de Rodrigo avec l’Orchestre de chambre d’Ottawa. Il est récipiendaire de nombreux prix de concours, tels que le concours de concerto du MPIMC (Marina Piccinini International Master Classes), le premier prix du concours Yale Gordon, le Concours de musique du Canada, le festival national de musique (MusicFest Canada), le Concours de la bourse de l’Orchestre du CNA et bien d’autres. Au cours des mois d’été en 2021 et 2022, Christian était membre du Aspen Contemporary Ensemble. Il a étudié avec Marina Piccinini, Paula Robison, Denis Bluteau, Camille Churchfield et Loyda Lastra.
